This free online course is a comprehensive faith-based journey through personal management, college and career exploration, preparing teens for life after high school. Nine self-paced, teacher-facilitated units were created with sophomores in mind, but are open to all teens. Flexibly available for use as a full semester or summer enrichment course, or as a supplemental resource for Adventist Academy teachers. Developed through CIRCLE and Andrews University Precollege Services, with hosting and NAD-certified teacher funding through Adventist Learning Community, and 0.5 units of Academy credit for a recording fee through Griggs International Academy.
High school freshman and sophomores will benefit most from this course when completed with the full support of adults who know them best. Juniors and seniors will find it worth their time investment, too. Many assignments include dialogue with parents, guardians, counselors, and peers, as the student reflects on the many online interactive tools and acts on what they learn. Adventure into a comprehensive faith-based journey through personal management, career exploration and college-readiness skill development in this nine-unit online course preparing teens for life after high school.
By completing this self-paced teacher-facilitated course, high school students will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to make wiser choices about their future, as God leads. The 9 units or modules with 3-6 lessons each are best completed in order.
Keri Conwell, author of units 1 and 4 and instructional designer and instructor for this course, served as a high school English teacher at Mount Vernon Academy and a K-10 Physical Education teacher at Ukiah Junior Academy.
