Welcome to Philosophy of Adventist Education! Philosophy of Adventist Education is a benchmark CEU course for teacher certification. Passing the course here on ALC does NOT give you university credit. This course is also available for university credit through Southern Adventist University with additional readings and assessments. What do I need to know?

The course contains 8 lessons. To receive a certificate for the course, learners should engage with all content, read Redemptive Education by Dr. George Knight and pass the three associated Exams. There are five attempts for each exam. Those who do not pass this CEU course must register for the course at an Adventist University and take it for credit if needed for certification. After completing this course for continuing education credit, you may re-enroll in the course for the purposes of resource retrieval, but not earn any additional CEUs.

What Will I Learn In This Course?

The Philosophy of Adventist Education course discusses the philosophical foundations of education from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective. Participation in the course will help you define your own world view from a biblical foundation and will also help you develop your personal philosophy of Christian education.

Dr. Pegi Flynt, course designer, author, and instructor, is a seasoned educator, who has taught everything from a one room school to graduate level higher education. She has experience as an administrator in junior academy settings and large school settings. Contributors for the course include Dr. Don Roy from Avondale College of Higher Education in Australia , Dr. George Knight, author of Redemptive Education, and Dr. Sherry Manison, author of the bible study guides and contributor for several lessons.
